Sokka's painting skillz

Kama Sokka 5/?

Title: Kama Sokka
Fandom: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Pairing: Zuko/Sokka
Rating: NC17 (this is the chapter with the sex)
Warnings: Sex. Sexy sex. Possibly one of the best sex scenes I've ever written.

Previous Chapter: Chapter Four
All Chapters: Kama Sokka tag

Oh, and I almost forgot. You're more likely to find me on tumblr these days. Follow me, I want more friends! As I get back into fanfiction writing, I'll be posting updates and reblogging cool stuff. At the moment I'm a bit sidetracked with Avengers (*cough*Loki*cough*), but Avatar and/or Korra things will go up too.

Now onto the fic.

Kama Sokka 4/?

Title: Kama Sokka
Fandom: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Rating: up to NC17, this chapter PG13
Pairing: Zuko/Sokka
Warnings: Warning for this chapter alone: Part of what I'm playing with, as you might have guessed from the title of this fic, is the fetishization of the "Orient" and "harems" by Western society. I'm probably not being all that PC with it, but really, it's all in good fun and for the sake of the porn. If you still think you'd have a problem with the way I handle it, either steer clear or keep it to yourself. I don't take myself seriously, so why should you? ;)
Summary: Sokka gets a Plan to help Zuko take some time off.

Holy wow I remembered my password. O.o

Hello Livejournal, I'm kinda back!

Gotta post up some stuff.

Nov. 5th, 2010

Big damn heroes sir

Zombie Neld is a zombie.

Oh god, guys, I did not mean to disappear for that long. I'm not dead. I'm just ... well, some weeks I'm not even busy.

This is not one of those weeks. x.x

Also, I've moved mostly to my new computer, but have not yet moved all the fun stuff over to this computer, so there hasn't been much to post.

I just need to let you know that I'm heading out to NEW ZEALAND on the 10th! Some of you may know that my sister is spending the semester in Melbourne, Australia, and she figured that she might as well explore New Zealand while she's over there. And dude, how could I pass that up. I found cheap tickets, got the time off of work, and I'm going to go on an 7-day tour of New Zealand! Yes, including several memorable scenes from Lord of the Rings, most important to me is Hobbiton. Fwee!

So, there. My continued hiatus, now with an excuse.

And ... I've heard that deviantArt has continued to be stupid and to pry into things that don't concern them? What does it even MATTER what an artist/writer identifies as, to them? Is it to map demographics or something? I don't understand the necessity of the gender checkbox.

I went to a "women's" college, but that gets air quotes because even on my tiny campus, there was such a spectrum of gender and sex that I know exactly how diverse things can get. Gender has nothing to do with sex. Just because I happen to be physically female and identify in a generally feminine way, I fit the cissexual norm. (I think I'm using that right ... it's been a while since my gender theory classes.) Neither sex NOR gender is an A or B situation. It may be for some people, but for others they fit neither A nor B, or they fit aspects of both. And maybe their sex is easily defined, but their gender is not. And that doesn't necessarily mean that the person is transsexual ... I've also heard the terms genderqueer, genderfluid, and genderfucked, for people who just plain don't conform to the black-and-white version people seem to have of gender and sex. And that's just fine.

So for me, personally, asking me to check A or B is a simple choice, and one I don't mind making. But I'm a bit ticked that they're ignoring all of my genderfluid siblings and forcing them into boxes that they don't want or need to fit.

*folds soapbox*

Big damn heroes sir

I hate that this is even an issue.

And I'm getting a shirt. You can count on it.

Because this SHOULD NOT be an issue. We shouldn't even be questioning the right of a person to marry whoever he or she chooses. Why? Because it's none of our business.

Don't support gay marriage? Then don't get one.

If you disagree, I respect your opinion, but I would rather not have hatred on this post.

Attention all fanfiction authors!

Okay, I know I've been next to dead lately. Same old story, same old excuses. Mea culpa, mea culpa.

I come bearing news for all you fanfiction authors who have dreamed of publication! One of my bestest best friends, dancewithtrains, has a project going on for her Literary Editing and Publishing class - and she wants to publish a magazine made up of fanfiction!

See her original note and call for submissions under the cut.Collapse )

Long story short: submissions are due November 4th. She prefers completed pieces or at least a completed draft that can stand on its own. If your story comes in chapters, she will accept the complete story, but will only publish one chapter at a time. Smut is NOT prohibited (thank goodness!), but what she's really looking for is literary merit, so stick some plot in with your porn.

For more information, please contact me. Despite that nifty looking LJ, that is not a good way to contact her. I will pass along any and all questions, and I can pass along her email for those interested in submitting.

Edit: to include a couple more details ... the page limit is 20 pages, double-spaced (or, you know, the standard spacing for LJ, which a space between each paragraph). The 20-page limit does not apply to chaptered stories ... as in, your story can be more than 20 pages. But the chapters shouldn't be longer than that.

I have a feeling I made the D: face a lot today.

Blah blah, work stuff, blah blah, I'm single again, blah blah. My personal life is boring. The way I broke up with the boy-thing is boring. Life goes on, we're all still here.

HOWEVER. I feel the need to share this.

A good 20 minutes of my day was filled with PANTS-WETTING TERROR. Not so much about the wedding celebration I kind of attended. But the getting there. YOU DO NOT REALIZE HOW DANGEROUSLY MOUNTAINOUS OREGON IS.

I was creeping up like a little old lady, going 20 miles per hour around hairpin turns around the side of a cliff with no break, no guardrail between me and SOLID, PAINFUL DEATH. And I was STILL praying like I'd never prayed before.

Seriously. The side of that mountain was so sheer that there was evidence of landslides in the road. The road that I was driving on.

I have learned that "scenic" = code word for "AAAAARRRRRGH OH CRAP OH GOD GET ME OUT OF THIS FLYING METAL DEATH TRAP"

Never. Never again. Jesusgod no.

I don't care that I'm a chicken and a sissy. I prefer my terror in short, brief spurts. I'm not one for extended stress. That was probably the worst 20 minutes of my life.

So how was your day?

Writer's Block: Boldly going

Which fictional world would you choose to visit, and why?

Oh man, this is such a hard one to answer without making addendums and requirements.

Avatar: TLA land, probably. Though preferably post-war. Because personally, I think it would be SO FUN to bend. I don't care what I would bend, it would just be plain fun. Also, their clothes look comfy.

I suppose I could also say October Daye's world ... but I probably wouldn't last long. I'm far too much of a chicken, and I'm no good in dangerous situations. I would spend the entire time curled up in a corner, fending off evil faeries. (UNLESS I got to be at least half Cait Sidhe. Then I would spend my entire time as a cat, completely oblivious to the outside world.)

I have to admit ... I might also enjoy Harry Potter's England. Because, again, magic-doing is fun. :D And British accents rock my socks.

Today I used the non-word "holded" because "it sounded righter than the other options."

I think maybe I need to relinquish my English degree. Turn it in somewhere. Give up any right I have to that diploma.

DDDDDDDDD:

Completely unrelated: I have a brand new computer! It's a spiffy, shiny new Toshiba Satellite A660, with (according to the packaging) 8 hours of battery life and a super-fast processor. I'm so incredibly excited. :D I have yet to actually set up all the stuff I want set up on it. But when I do get it ready, hooboy, look out world.

Even more unrelated: Does anyone happen to know, from personal experience or word of mouth, how strict ff.net is about allowing pornography on the site? Like, if I were to put out a chapter that was a solid sex scene, would I get exploded off the face of the internet?

I've had good luck so far ... no one has reported my especially porny chapters of anything I've written. But you never know.

Sigh. Fashion.

Okay. I don't keep up with fashion. At all. I occasionally watch Project Runway or, under extreme duress, America's Next Top Model. I like the fun and cattiness and pretty pretty clothes. But I really don't KNOW anything about fashion, and my idea of dressing up is wearing a t-shirt that is slightly less ratty than that other one, and maybe my nice jeans.

And still, I know enough to let this piss me off: Curvy Female Stars Have Trouble Finding Dresses For Awards Shows.

I mean, yeah, of course I know that happens. Every single model on Project Runway, and the vast majority on ANTM, they're all just bags of bones. But that shouldn't be your go-to just because it's EASIER. It seems horrifically lazy and sizeist to decide that the fashionable thing should be girls who are 6' and size 0, just because (gasp!) we might have to use more fabric to make larger boobies look nice! True, those stick-thin girls are magnificent clothes-hangers. But the discrimination against women who either refuse or are unable to get to that size ... it just astounds me.

Maybe this is the root of all my problems with fashion. I have so many things to take into consideration when I go shopping: finding pants that don't drag, finding things that fit over my hips and butt, camouflaging my squishable tummy, not making my arms look too fat, finding something that shows some cleavage without being skanky or showing my bra. None of those beautiful stick-thin models seem to have the same problems.

I LOVE seeing Christina Hendricks and other beautiful curvy women all decked out in their pretty clothes! I think, "wow, if she can do that, I can do that! There's someone with a body like mine!" And it makes me so sad that stupid designers won't design for real women, who have hips and tummies and boobs and wear a size 12.

So yeah, there's my rant for the day. Poo on you, fashion industry. People my size and Christina's size can wear pretty clothes and look beautiful, too. Shows you for ignoring us.

PS: For those of you who don't recognize her immediately, or like me don't watch Mad Men, Christina also played YoSaffBridge in Firefly. :D She certainly turned Mal's head, am I right, ladies?

General Announcement

Please don't crosspost any of my stuff to Facebook or Twitter. I'm perfectly capable of pimping myself out.

Not like I'm too worried about my employer finding out (because they would have done it already, methinks), or my family (because they know I'm crazy anyway), but still. The stuff I post here is stuff I MEAN to post here, and I don't want it floating around places I don't know about.

Thanks for appreciating my wishes and the wishes of other LJ posters. If someone has posted that they don't want their stuff crossposted, do the polite thing and respect their wishes.

Edit:
More info on the new LJ setup here, and a poll to tell LJ how you feel about it here.

You know, if you're strongly opinionated about that kind of thing.

Neld is a nerdlet.

I just have to squee and wiggle a little bit about this book I'm reading. Sunshine, by Robin McKinley, is one of a very, very short list of vampire fiction that I actually really love and enjoy rereading.

Forget Edward. Forget Lestat (despite my fondness of his narcissism and self-obsession).

Give me Constantine. <3

I am really, really picky on vampire fiction. The Laurel K. Hamilton-style of vampire romance is just not my cup of tea anymore. I tried reading the Southern Vampire series once, and just couldn't get through the first couple of pages - it felt like reading bad fanfiction. And don't even get me started on all the ways Twilight is ruining ... well, everything ever.

Sunshine is so freaking awesome because it's not a vampire romance. Or if it is, it doesn't know it. And it can tell a story from a first-person perspective without sounding like a 13-year-old girl writing love stories to her emogoth boyfriend.

I love Sunshine for the realism and strength of Sunshine herself. She's not brave, but she is mighty tough, and I like the way she uses her magic. So amazingly cool.

And I love Constantine, even though at this point we know next to nothing about him. He's not a heartthrob or sparkly or beautiful ... he's even distinctly inhuman. But he's still so awesome and surprisingly sweet and I'd probably let him bite me if he wanted to

I think I'm just a Robin McKinley fangirl. Her stuff is always so cool. It bothers me a bit that she put a ban on fanfiction of her stuff, but hey, that's her prerogative. Not like I'm going to write fic for her stuff anyway.

So, yeah. Sunshine is right up there with Fledgling for my favorite vampire books, though for very different reasons. (OMG Shoriiiiiiiiiiii is so cool. I want to be her when I'm grown up.)

Hey. 'Sup. Brought a fic.

Okay, so! I have not posted actual story material in ages, beyond a few and far between meme responses and that one bit of somethin'somethin' that I'm not sure if anyone read. So I'll just go ahead and post something new.

Title: ... Still in progress
Author: Me, of course. rockininlasgalen@yahoo.com
Fandom: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Pairing: Mai/Sokka, of a flavor. Though if we really want to get technical, it's Mao/Sata.
Rating: PG13? Not quite sure. It doesn't feel PG to me.
Summary: A shortbit about how Mao and Sata might get together. Also doing a little worldbuilding to see where Sata's headspace is at. >.>

Notes: This is only AU in the sense that Mai and Sokka have been genderswitched. Pretty much everything else has remained the same, except for maybe some of the relationships. Because hey, boys and girls interact with people differently.

I declare the games ON!

Hear ye, hear ye!

Okay, all you fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender. It's been a while since I put one of these out, but atlaland just got revamped. New mods, new recruits (hopefully), new games and prizes!

For those who don't know, atlaland is an interactive Avatar community. Join and you'll get sorted into one of four teams (Earth, Air, Water, Fire). The mods beckyh2112 and crystaldrake will put out weekly challenges for writing, graphics, and puzzle-y things. Some of our past challenges have included a smut writing contest, a past/future fiction contest, the Favorite Character writing contest, Sokka's Drawings contest, and a rainbow icons contest.

You are expected to participate at least once every two weeks, but that doesn't seem like a difficult requirement to get around. Mostly we join for the fun, the crack, and the community.

And speaking of communities! As you can tell by the banner, I'm the mod of earth_kingdom, which I rule with a rocky fist (with the immense help of my Dai Li, of course). And of course I'd like to recruit some new Earthies, even though I think Air is hurting the most for new members. Anyway, join up! It's great fun!

Signups are here! Put in an application!

PS: Don't forget to mention that I sent you here. I get points for all my new recruits to my armythe community.
